Trifecta! is a trio consisting of Lori Baruth, clarinet, David Oyen, bassoon, and Chialing Hsieh, piano. They have performed together for several years and have a wide array of new and old works in their repertoire. Strong advocates of new music, they have commissioned several composers to grow the available works for this instrumentation. Trifecta! has premiered commissions by Mark Zanter, Chih-Chen Wei, Harvey Stokes, Christopher Milby, Michael Young, and Christopher Weait. Three of these commissions by Zanter, Weait, and Young can be heard on their debut album, “Cumulus Accumulation,” which was released in Spring 2015. Trifecta! has performed at the 2017 International Double Reed Society Conference, the International Clarinet Association’s ClarinetFest in 2016 and 2014, the Society of Composers, Inc. Region III Conference in 2016, the Kentucky Music Educator’s Association’s annual conference in 2015, the KMTA conference in October 2015, Kentucky Music Teacher’s Association’s annual conference in 2013, the New Music Festival at Marshall University in 2013, and has been invited to perform at this festival in 2018. David Oyen and Lori Baruth are on faculty at Morehead State University in Morehead, KY, and Chialing Hsieh is on faculty at Northwestern State University in Natchitoches, LA. .
